In recent years, more and more couples have started talking about wedding content creators.
Many Gen Z couples specifically look for this type of professional when they begin planning their wedding, especially if they are considering getting married in Italy.
One of the first questions I usually hear is:
“Is it the same as a videographer?”
Not really.
A wedding content creator is a completely different role that emerged from the evolution of social media and the way we now share important moments of our lives.
Today couples don’t only think about photos and wedding films to watch years later.They also want immediate and spontaneous content to share during or shortly after the event.
What a wedding content creator actually does
The main role of a wedding content creator is to produce short, informal content designed for social media.
This can include:
short videos for Instagram Reels or TikTok
behind-the-scenes moments during the day
live stories from the wedding
small details of the venue and decoration
spontaneous moments between friends and family
Unlike photographers and videographers, who focus on creating timeless and carefully composed images, content creators work with a more dynamic and immediate storytelling style.
Very often couples receive their first edited clips just hours after the wedding.
Why more couples are choosing this option
For many younger couples, a wedding is not only an event to remember in the future, but also something they want to share and experience in real time.
As an Italy wedding planner, I see that this choice often comes from the desire to capture small spontaneous moments that might not always appear in the official photo or video coverage.
A content creator does not replace the photographer or videographer.Instead, it adds a different and more informal perspective to the story of the day.
Why it works particularly well for destination weddings
When couples plan a destination wedding in Italy, the celebration often becomes a multi-day experience rather than a single event.

Another aspect I notice frequently in my work is how naturally photogenic many Italian locations are.
The regions where I mainly work — Le Marche, Romagna, Umbria and Abruzzo — offer a wide variety of settings:

landscapes between the sea and the mountains
panoramic terraces perfect for relaxed moments with guests
These environments naturally create beautiful and spontaneous situations that work perfectly for short social media content.
A trend that should still reflect the couple
Like any wedding choice, hiring a content creator should make sense for the couple and for the type of celebration they are planning.
Not every couple feels the need for this, and that’s completely fine.
